The Incentive Research Foundation (IRF) funds research studies and develops resources that serve the global incentive industry. IRF focuses on non-cash incentives as a way to motivate employee performance, including travel and other reward and recognition programs.

With COVID-19 disrupting workplace environments to an unprecedented degree, IRF wanted to help member companies use their existing incentive and recognition programs to motivate people who find themselves working from home (WFH) for the first time — leveraging industry expertise for the greater good. IRF created a webinar featuring the organization’s chief academic officer and two other experts, who offered insights into motivation as well as basic tips on how to adapt existing programs for WFH teams.

“Our primary motivation for doing this was to help people understand that incentive and recognition programs are a powerful tool in any circumstances,” said MCI USA talent Stephanie Harris, who serves as IRF’s president, “and in challenging circumstances incentives can be even more important. Reward and recognition, saying thank-you — all of those things become more critical when people are being challenged.”
