In August of 2021, we helped Mollie host their first-ever all-company virtual event called The Mollieverse. Now, as Covid-19 is coming to an end while the company enters into a new era, employees from every office were able to reunite face-to-face - and we helped them do it.
The purpose was to bring together every Mollie employee worldwide to align on company goals and strategies, network, and celebrate their achievements. With support from our suppliers and partners, we transformed the 8 bit (virtual) environment from the previous event into an actual live setting with a perfect blend of learning and fun.
How did we do it?
The key to combining education and leisure is to find a way to mix creative sessions with entertainment. For this, an ordinary venue wouldn't cut it. We secured Thuishaven – a festival venue with enough space to deep dive into breakout sessions while also giving enough space for giant beer-pong games and dancing.
The one-day event consisted of an opening ceremony with the CEOs, workshops, creative and strategy sessions, networking sessions, and plenty of food and beer to choose from. We assisted with not only the logistics, but also the content to make sure the presentations, videos, swag, and decorations were on-brand and reminiscent of the Mollieverse theme. As the sun set and the dinner was served, the party officially started.
Like true Nederlanders, the weather doesn't stop us.
The biggest concern with an open-air environment was considering the weather. While the venue is normally prepared for rainy days, it took careful planning of the layout to ensure that sessions, workshops, and activities could be moved indoors in case of unexpected showers. For MCI, going back to live events means triple checking every detail and remaining flexible. Luckily, we acquired extra electricity capacity to ensure that the presentations ran smoothly and the speakers didn't blow.
The Results
More than 700 Mollie employees joined from all over the world to be reunited and inspired. With over 6 breakout sessions, a myriad of games, energetic music and the freedom to be mask-free, we're thrilled to make a comeback to in-person events with such an enthusiastic client.
