The event, held at the prestigious Megaron Athens, provided an ideal platform for global experts in cataract and refractive surgery to share the latest advances, research, and best practices. The ESCRS Winter Meeting not only offered an exceptional opportunity for knowledge exchange but also allowed delegates to connect, learn, and grow in an enriching environment. MCI Switzerland, as the core Professional Congress Organiser (PCO), was responsible for managing all aspects of the event. With support from MCI UK, who handled elements related to committee meetings and new congress initiatives, this collaboration ensured the seamless execution of the event from start to finish.

To enhance attendee engagement and improve their experience, ESCRS continued several successful initiatives from previous editions, such as the Winter Meeting Theatre, interactive sessions, the World Café for in-depth discussions on specific topics, and Speed Mentoring, where delegates had the chance to meet senior ESCRS members. Additionally, a series of interviews, conducted by the MCI Switzerland and MCI UK teams, were broadcast throughout the event, offering participants new perspectives and insights into the latest trends in cataract and refractive surgery. These initiatives fostered meaningful interactions and made the congress even more enriching for all.

Despite the disruptive strike in Athens, which paralyzed the airport and 90% of transportation on the opening day, MCI Switzerland quickly responded with tailored mitigation actions to ensure the congress ran smoothly. The teamwork between ESCRS, MCI Switzerland and MCI UK was essential in providing a seamless experience for participants, enabling them to fully benefit from opportunities to exchange knowledge and share insights.
