Novartis and MCI Switzerland: Pedaling for Hope to Support Children with Cancer

The Strength of the Collective in Service of Children with Cancer

In August, Novartis Pharma Schweiz AG, with the support of MCI Switzerland, reaffirmed its social commitment to children and adolescents with cancer in Switzerland. Two complementary initiatives marked this effort : the first was the seventeenth edition of “Ride for the Cure,” a solidarity cycling adventure that took participants from Lugano to Rotkreuz, covering 378 kilometers and more than 6,100 meters of elevation gain. The collective effort, culminating in a symbolic arrival where colleagues joined the ride, perfectly illustrated the spirit of solidarity and determination.

Employees from Rotkreuz, joined by several colleagues from Basel, successfully completed this year’s challenging tour through Switzerland and raised more than CHF 35,000 in donations. Novartis Pharma Switzerland Ltd. contributed an additional CHF 10,000, further strengthening the impact of the initiative. Ride for the Cure started 17 years ago at Novartis Pharma Schweiz AG in Rotkreuz, and has since become a tradition of solidarity and perseverance. This year also saw a project in Basel that added to the fundraising efforts, showing once again how collective engagement can multiply the impact. These funds will finance leisure activities and moments of respite for young patients and their families, offering them joy and a sense of normalcy in the face of illness.

The commitment continued on the Novartis campus, where MCI Switzerland organized an innovative cycling activation. Interactive stations allowed employees to turn minutes of pedaling into watts, and watts into both visibility and donations for Kinderkrebshilfe Schweiz. The enthusiasm of employees, amplified by their LinkedIn shares, gave the initiative an impact far beyond the campus.

The results exceeded all expectations. Massive participation, collective energy, and genuine engagement demonstrated that together, employees can truly make a difference. As the spirit of the initiative so well expresses: “When people come together, magic happens.”
