Harnessing AI to transform live events into lasting knowledge

At MCI, we capture content shared at live learning events to provide personalised, adaptive learning experiences that drive professional growth and success. Find out how this can help your association or organisation!

MCI’s commitment to excellence in Learning and Development (L&D) is enhanced by our ability to use an AI-powered learning management system (LMS) to capture and preserve the content and interactions from live in-person learning events and collate it into a searchable knowledge base.

Transforming in-person events into a searchable knowledge base

In-person events are rich with valuable content and insights. However, the challenge lies in capturing and retaining this knowledge post-event. Our solution involves implementing an AI-powered Learning Management System (LMS) called switchai, powered by Sana's advanced AI technology. This system captures and synthesises the content and interactions from live events, making it accessible and actionable long after the events have concluded. Key features include:

  • Content and reflection capture: Digital boards capture interactions, enabling leaders to create localised action plans from AI-summarised insights.
  • Rapid session summaries: Participants receive immediate summaries of sessions with actionable takeaways.
  • Power of search: The LMS allows for easy interaction with the captured outputs, facilitating the creation of executive summaries and action lists.
  • Building a knowledge base: The system makes both the delivered content and participant outputs searchable, building the corporate knowledge base over time.

It was first tested at our Business Academy, which was attended by 300 MCI talents. MCI’s Global Learning and Development Director, Avinash Chandarana, notes, "By using AI to capture the best moments and insights from our Academy, we’ve really changed the game and transformed our L&D approach in such settings. It’s about taking those once-fleeting moments and adding valuable content into our knowledge base, giving something solid to build on.”

As highlighted in AI in L&D: From Talk to Action by Donald H. Taylor and Egle Vinauskaite, MCI and other business leaders are harnessing AI to create dynamic and personalised learning environments. For example:

  • Bayer uses AI to blend compliance training with dynamic learning.
  • Roche integrates AI holistically across L&D to enrich learning strategies.
  • Leyton measures the impact of coaching on customer interactions using AI analytics.
  • HSBC boosts performance with AI-driven coaching tools.
  • Norsk Hydro personalised learning paths with AI to align skills with business needs.
  • Ericsson explores new frontiers in AI to democratise learning by implementing a strategic and community-driven approach.

Looking ahead, the MCI Institute plans to scale the reach of the content we capture, so that a wider audience within the group can access it. Micro courses will be developed from the captured training content, providing our global workforce with seamless, personalised access to a wealth of knowledge and best practices.

Benefits for congress and event organisers

There is clearly enormous potential for our association and corporate partners to capture the knowledge shared at their own events and congresses, and make it accessible to a wider audience. Some of the benefits include:

  1. Enhanced knowledge retention

AI can capture and synthesise valuable content from live events, making it accessible post-event. This ensures that important insights and knowledge are retained and can be revisited as needed, enhancing overall learning and application. It also offers opportunities for post-event engagement with attendees as well as with those who were unable to attend.

  2. Personalised learning experiences

An AI-driven LMS can provide personalised recommendations and adaptive learning paths based on individual participant needs and interests. This increases engagement and ensures that attendees receive relevant and impactful content tailored to their specific goals.

  3. Efficient knowledge management

AI can organise and categorise event content, making it easily searchable and accessible. This allows a broader audience to quickly find specific information, reducing the time spent searching.

  4. Improved decision-making

Access to AI-powered analytics can provide valuable insights into participant interactions and learning outcomes. This data can inform strategic decisions, helping organisations optimise their offering.

  5. Enhanced networking and collaboration

AI can facilitate better networking by matching participants with similar interests or complementary skills. This promotes collaboration and knowledge sharing, leading to stronger professional relationships and more productive interactions.

  6. Continuous learning opportunities

By transforming live event content into on-demand micro-courses and interactive modules, participants can continue their learning journey long after the event has concluded. This ensures ongoing skills development and knowledge enhancement.

  7. Increased engagement and satisfaction

Personalised follow-up summaries and actionable takeaways provided by AI enhance the learning experience. Participants are more likely to stay engaged and satisfied with the content they receive, leading to better overall event feedback.

  8. Scalability and reach

AI-powered platforms can easily scale to accommodate large numbers of participants, ensuring that high-quality learning experiences are delivered consistently, regardless of the event size.

By implementing an AI-leveraged learning management system, associations and corporations can maximise the impact of their events and congresses, driving both individual and organisational growth through enhanced learning and development initiatives.
