The challenge

Delivering a memorable global legal conference

For the International Bar Association (IBA) Conference in Seoul, MCI Korea leveraged MCI Australia’s prior experience to deliver as one team the 2019 meeting. The scope covered a wide range of services, from the opening ceremony to social committee dinners and the closing party.

THE SOLUTION

Taking guests on a cultural journey

MCI took guests on a journey through Korea’s past, present and future, inspired by the Obangsaek concept – a term used to represent the five traditional Korean colours of blue, white, red, black and yellow that were believed to symbolise the five elements balancing the universe: trees, metal, fire, water and soil. These elements served as the basis for the conference’s creative development, including cultural entertainment, dynamic theming, exciting activations and production design.

THE RESULTS

Immersive experiences and outstanding attendance

The 2019 IBA Annual Conference in Seoul set a new standard for cultural immersion and large-scale event delivery, reinforcing IBA’s role as the global gathering point for the legal profession.

4,500 attendees at the opening ceremony

3,500 attendees at the welcome party

900 attendees at the closing event
