How MCI turned three remote working farms into global learning environments

In October 2025, MCI USA delivered a global academy for a global food company in rural Ohio. Designed around technical education and best practices for farmers, the programme took place on working dairy farms and brought together global leadership, dairy producers from nine countries and sector experts. The result was a field-based learning experience that supported multilingual collaboration, direct knowledge exchange and a scalable model for future academies.

The challenge

Delivering multilingual technical learning in the field for a global audience

Our client, a global food producer, wanted to create a learning experience for farmers through scientific and technical demonstrations of best practice on working farms to give participants hands-on exposure that a traditional classroom could not match. The audience would include the client’s C-suite leaders, leading producers from Morocco, Egypt, Brazil, Mexico, Turkey, Spain, Romania, Poland and the US, as well as experts from industry and academia. The farms were in remote environments with limited broadband capacity but each would need to be supported by AI interpretation, mobile-based presentation and collaboration tools that would allow participants to follow complex content in real time across multiple languages and learning formats.  A major challenge was the time frame. MCI USA had 39 days to plan and deliver the programme, which required rapid planning, staffing and coordination across multiple sites. The multilingual requirement added another operational challenge and we needed dependable interpretation in seven languages throughout the programme. The farm settings added a further layer of complexity. These were real agricultural environments and connectivity shifted from site to site with metal barns and machinery affecting signal strength. These were not venues designed to support large-scale digital delivery for 120 smartphones running AI interpretation.

Taking learning to remote farms

The solution

Designing an academy around attendee needs

We designed the experience by first asking what attendees would need to feel safe, confident and connected to others speaking another language.

To create the programme’s technology infrastructure, MCI USA partnered with an AI interpretation provider to transform each remote farm into a multilingual learning hub, deploying Starlink units, multilingual applications and mobile-enabled tools across all three farms and off-site activities. Using participants’ own devices helped reduce the learning curve and made it easier for each language group to access content. We also developed a translation contingency plan for when digital tools might lag or drop, strategically splitting workshops and tours between MCI USA’s bilingual team and client resources to ensure uninterrupted delivery.

Flexibility was built into every operational decision, allowing the team to pivot as conditions changed, for example, moving Starlink units, adjusting workshops and restructuring sessions.

The results

A scalable, shareable model for learning

The academy is a powerful example of innovation under pressure, a masterclass in adaptation, problem-solving and the creative use of technology. It strengthened global alignment among leading producers across nine countries, equipping them with knowledge to improve yields, reduce environmental impact, strengthen non-GMO production standards and create more consistent supply-chain outputs for the client’s North American and global markets.

It also deepened relationships and strategic priorities between the client’s executives and its producer network, giving leaders first-hand visibility into operational realities while allowing producers to engage directly with decision-makers.

The academy proved that global knowledge exchange can take place far beyond traditional venues and that the hands-on model supports faster adoption and more effective implementation of technical standards. It also created a scalable model for future academies and will help shape how the client convenes and educates producers going forward.

FAQs: How to deliver multilingual field-based learning in remote locations

How do I design a learning experience that works for both senior leadership and frontline participants?
We can help! Our corporate solutions are positioned around strategic expertise, engaging experiences and communication that supports business objectives. In this case study, the academy brought together the client’s senior leadership, producers and external experts in one shared learning environment. MCI can shape solutions that serve different levels of an organisation and its suppliers while keeping the experience coherent and useful, connecting strategic decision-makers with the people closest to operations.

What if our remote learning programme needs strong educational content as well as event delivery?
That is where the combination of design and content with live event delivery becomes useful. We create brand content that supports strategic objectives and educational needs across platforms. In this case study, the learning format was not built around a stage and slide deck. It used live demonstrations, site-based learning and multilingual support to make technical content easier to absorb in context. This solution resonates with agri clients and also with those in sectors such as healthcare, energy, manufacturing or utilities where people often learn best in the environment where the work actually happens.

I have a complex programme with moving parts, multiple stakeholders and measurable business intent. Can you help?
Our corporate solutions offer a mix of strategic expertise, full-service delivery and measurable results, with experience across thousands of client engagement projects. As this case study demonstrates, the programme was operationally complex, in a remote setting, with a multilingual and high-stakes audience. Our solutions were designed around clear client needs: knowledge exchange, alignment and practical learning. MCI is a delivery partner who can combine creative event design, logistics and strategic communication in one model.
