Embracing Culture: A Memorable Company Event at Mollie

When a company hosts an internal event, it should be more than just food, drinks, and music. It should represent the values that make up the company's personality. So when Mollie, one of Europe's fastest-growing payment service providers, needed help planning a night for 700+ employees, we jumped at the chance to deep-dive into their company values to execute an event that was bold, authentic, creative, and inclusive. 

The Purpose: 

The goal was to give employees a sense of ownership and connection with the company's future strategy and inspire them to meet, connect, and learn from departments from other offices.  

The Process: 

We had one goal in mind when it came to the venue: Make it bold and creative. We secured the Straat Museum because of its industrial vibe, ample space, and artwork. Considering the museum is also a recent startup with a unique history of its own, it perfectly matched our vision for the event.  

The museum had only hosted dinner parties and small meetings thus far, which meant we had to work with our suppliers to fill the space with enough chairs, tables, and furniture to accommodate 700+ people as well as set up a stage, speakers, and screens for the presentations and afterparty. The high ceilings in the warehouse and harsh winter weather created a problem with heating. We rented out dozens of heat lamps and provided extra blankets as a solution.  

The Day Of: 

The one-night event started with a presentation from the management to discuss their 2023 strategy. Once finished, volunteers quickly removed the chairs to open the space for the party. Activities included: 

A branded graffiti art backdrop with props and a photographer 

An AI Art generator booth  

A separate room for Karaoke  

A "Management in the Hot Seat" booth for networking 

Games such as Cornhole, Twister, Jenga, and PingPong 

A painting station for guests to create their own works of art 

A food truck to serve dinner and snacks 

Multiple drinks stations  

Two DJs to play throughout the night 

The Results: 

      730+ people from multiple offices reunited for a night that embodied the company's bold, authentic, creative, and inclusive values. Together with our suppliers, we created an experience that inspired them to network, learn, and let their creativity flow.
